Principal's Message

Welcome to Central Elementary School where the journey toward "destination learning" begins for your child! As the principal, I am honored to lead this exceptional preschool through fourth-grade institution with an enrollment of approximately 400 students. Our school community is incredibly diverse, representing families from various countries and backgrounds. We take great pride in embracing and celebrating this diversity by fostering an inclusive environment that welcomes every student into our community of learners.

Our dedicated staff members are committed to creating an atmosphere that nurtures student growth and facilitates optimal learning. Collaborating closely, our teachers provide a content-rich curriculum infused with technology, emphasizing student collaboration and independence. As you tour our school, you will witness students actively engaged in their education. They can be seen scattered around the classrooms, immersed in reading books, playing math games, constructing objects, or observing live creatures. Moreover, you will notice students using Google Classroom, Chromebooks, and iPads to enhance their learning experience through technology.

Beyond our academic curriculum, we prioritize the holistic development of our students. Each week, students participate in art, music, and physical education classes. We also offer a range of extracurricular activities, including instrumental music and clubs related to music, art, and school government, which provide additional opportunities for students to explore their interests.

At Central Elementary School, character education is an integral part of our mission. "Destination Learning" is our theme this year because it focuses on creating an exciting educational journey for your child where they can explore various opportunities for learning and discover new knowledge while engaging in hands-on activities that foster curiosity and critical thinking skills. By embracing this theme, we aim to cultivate a love for learning and empower your child to embark on a lifelong adventure of discovery and growth.

While these incredible opportunities unfold within our school, we firmly believe that students thrive when parents actively participate in their child's education. To facilitate this vital partnership, we offer numerous avenues for parent involvement. You can engage with your child's teacher during Back to School Night, conferences, or through ongoing communication via phone or email. Our PTA organizes various special events throughout the year, including cultural awareness events and field day, which provide further opportunities for engagement. Additionally, they tirelessly plan exciting family-oriented events like International Night and Family Bingo. I encourage you to be actively involved in your child's education by maintaining regular contact with teachers, volunteering, and joining the PTA.

At Central Elementary School, we embrace the challenge of preparing our students to become reflective thinkers and compassionate citizens. By fostering strong parent partnerships, upholding rigorous academic standards, and promoting character education, we are equipping our students for success. Stay connected with us on Twitter @CentralSchoolEB for updates and important information.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education.

Sincerely,

Mike Gaskell, Principal, Central Elementary School
